Supervisor, Accounts Payable

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. in Syracuse, NY is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join the team.  This position will report directly to the Accounting Manager and play a strategic role in overseeing many key functions within accounts payable.

Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for coordination, performance, and oversight of all activities within the Accounts Payable department and interface with General Accounting functions.

  • Management of the Payment cycle including receipt and verification of invoices, verification of receipt of goods/services and expense propriety.

  • Oversee activities of Accounts Payable department staff and Finance and staff assigned with AP tasks.

  • Organize and review payments to suppliers ensuring appropriate support and approvals.

  • Review and ensure accuracy of monthly Accounts Payable reports.

  • Maintain departmental internal controls and integrity of the Accounts Payable ledger system.

  • Work with other departments to ensure efficiency of invoice processing and payment stream.

  • Provide Accounts Payable reporting as necessary.

  • Provide support for all statutory requirements including GST/HST filings.

  • Approve supplier renewals and new supplier setup.

  • Prepare annual 1099 filing.

Compensation Range: $69,100- $84,600

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 8+ years accounts payable experience including supervisory experience.

  • Strong leadership experience able to lead a small team with responsibility for execution, accuracy, and results.

  • Familiarity with Oracle ERP systems (or other ERP systems) with the ability to extract, organize and maintain accurate databases.

  • Experience with ERP systems implementation and project management is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Solid written and oral communication skills and analytical problem solving.

  • Sound business judgment, ability to discern Company priorities, and sense of urgency.

  • High level of enthusiasm, adaptable, and intuitive while managing internal and external needs.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
