Close Industrial Partnerships
In Japan Saab has helped to support naval shipbuilding, ground combat systems, maritime surveillance, training and simulation. In the civilian sphere Saab is an important supplier of air and maritime traffic management systems. Over the last 30 years Saab has forged close relationships with Japanese industry partners and has been recognised as a centre-of-excellence and experience that helps Japan maintain its defences and its ability to work with allies worldwide.
The increasing use of EW has led to more and more near-peer conflicts where enemies are fighting with the same types of weapons. As a result, information and data are becoming more important in tactical warfare. Obtaining this data at an early stage without the knowledge of the enemy is a fine art and a skill that will play a key role in deciding the outcome of future warfare. Sirius Compact provides individuals and small units with instant situational awareness - where and when you need it.
Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB)
Today’s ground forces are being exposed to threats from all directions. The need of weapons and ammunition that is versatile, easily transportable and agile to meet the multiple demands of modern warfare is increasing. The Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) has a range of up to 150 kilometres, allowing it to be deployed against enemy targets or troops from a long distance.
GLSDB delivers on the needs of today
Within today’s modern warfare, the importance of a well-equipped artillery has made its mark. Enemy drones are pushing artillery deployment areas further back which means that the demand for artillery with longer range has increased. Range for artillery is a driver for a high cost and in this stage when armies have big holes to fill, cost effectiveness is key. GLSDB is the missile system that has the most superior range vs cost ratio out there. GLSDB with its 150 km range gives armies the possibility to strike high pay-off targets in a with 1 m accuracy deep into enemy territory to a lower cost than all other system.

Surface radar
Giraffe AMB
The Giraffe AMB 3D radar surveillance system provides key capabilities for ground-based air defence (GBAD) in the short to medium range and buys time to ensure freedom of manoeuvre and support air superiority. At the same time, Giraffe AMB is a perfect mobile gap filler in long-range air defence.
Giraffe 4A
Giraffe 4A combines the battle-proven designs from the Arthur and Giraffe AMB product families with an all-new radar sensor, based on AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) technology. It provides all-weather coverage against aerial targets, from low, slow and small targets (UAVs) to fast-flying fighter aircraft and supersonic missiles, RAM targets and jammer detection/tracking.
Short-range mobile radars such as Saab's combat-proven Giraffe 1X radar locate aircraft, helicopters and drones, as well as artillery shells, mortar rounds and rockets simultaneously. The system has a range of 75 kilometers and a detection area of 360 degrees, and in the event of an identified object, it automatically sends information to the connected command and control system. Multifunctional, high-performance 3D radar systems Giraffe 1X also make ground-based air defense highly mobile due to its compactness and low weight of less than 150 kilograms. Mounted on vehicles, the sensor also has a "track on move" mode, enabling real-time monitoring of airspace even when in motion.
Advanced camouflage systems
Camouflage, concealment and deception are currently experiencing a renaissance. They are becoming some of the most important military skills of our time. Where resources are scarce, modern sensors are increasingly illuminating the battlefield and long-range weapons are accurate to within a few metres, only those who remain undetected and can deceive the enemy stand a chance. The Combat Boat 90 NG is based on a proven design and operational success, since the first boat was commissioned. CB90 NG can effortlessly carry multiple troops and cargo, in shallow or open waters, whilst maintaining incredible speeds and manoeuvrability. Perfected from a basic model, additional applications include marine police, pilot, fire fighter, airport rescue, search and rescue, and environment control.
Electronic Warfare
With over 50 years of electronic warfare innovation, Saab provides electronic warfare solutions for a variety of platforms in the air, land and sea domains. Today, our electronic warfare offer includes self-protection systems protecting aircraft, helicopters, land vehicles, naval vessels and submarines. We also provide signals intelligence systems for passive interception and analysis of radar and communication signals, giving improved situational awareness from airborne, land based and naval platforms Electronic warfare is about detecting or disturbing electromagnetic emissions, typically a radar emission or communication signal.
Arexis - High-end Electronic Combat System
Saab Arexis is a state-of-the-art, market-available EK self-protection system for combat aircraft. By using high instantaneous bandwidth, interferometry, triangulation and artificial intelligence (AI), it convinces with very high detection rates against frequency and pulse agile emitters. Arexis is modular and can be adapted to almost any modern platform. As with the Tornado weapon system, only one adaptation is necessary, plus the cost of the equipment per aircraft. Saab can support the German customer from its Nuremberg base, and a significant contribution in the area of a key technology can be made by the German partner industry. Sovereign German control over the entire system is guaranteed.
Track Data Fusion Engine
Operators face an overwhelming amount of data. The Track Data Fusion Engine (TDFE) combines this data into a clear and accurate air situation picture, reducing the operators' workload, enabling fast reaction. The Track Data Fusion Engine (TDFE) is a high performance multi-sensor tracker and correlator. It effectively establishes one track for each target by fusing measurements from a mix of active and passive sensors together with tracks provided by other systems. It can easily be configured for use in various surveillance applications such as air defence ground environment, combat management systems on ships, airborne early warning, and coastal surveillance systems.
Training & Simulation
Realistic training, followed by immediate feedback is the best way to prepare for the real mission. Training experience leads to quick, correct decision making in real situations, saving lives at risk. We provide solutions that suit your precise needs with realistic exercises in both open and urban terrain, from individual and combined arms at platoon level, to joint operations at brigade combat team level.
Training Interoperability
Joint training of allied nations is a key topic among all NATO members. Interoperability training at brigade level and beyond is being given greater focus in order to ensure effective training and to be prepared for current and future threats. It also enables roles to be changed quickly and flexibly.

Saab composite superstructure concept is an affordable lightweight non-corroding alternative to steel or aluminium structures that saves around 50% in structural weight. Derived from the Visby-class corvette’s 100-percent carbon fibre hull construction, we have successfully introduced the composite superstructure concept on the market for surface combatants. Driven by an ever-increasing trend to put sensors and weapons high up in the ship, a composite superstructure enables ship designers to reduce top weight and improve stability.
