Saab partners on innovative Air Traffic Management for Singapore
Saab, Thales and ST Engineering today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the long-term innovation and modernisation of Singapore’s Air Traffic Management (ATM) infrastructure.
This Singapore-focused partnership was signed on 20 November at the Sweden – Singapore Royal Business Forum and aims to establish a robust industrial framework that leverages global products and services.
“This initiative shows our joint industrial commitment to Singapore, and that we are working pro-actively to reduce time and implementation risks in the introduction of the next generation of ATM technologies in Singapore,” says Per Ahl, Head of Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions.
The collaboration will integrate technologies from both Saab and Thales, combined with local expertise from ST Engineering Mission Software and Services, ensuring seamless support for all phases of ATM, from en route operations to gate management. Saab’s contribution includes a fully integrated automation and Digital Tower Suite, known as i-DTS, which combines a complete Advanced Surface Movement Guidance & Control System and Digital Tower functionality in a single product. Through this partnership, the companies aim to set a new standard in ATM, with the potential to expand this collaborative model to other regions globally.
Saab’s Digital Tower Suite enables enhanced visual situational awareness for any type of airport, from any location, with the flexibility to deliver services on-demand for multiple airports. Using the integrated Advanced Surface Movement Guidance & Control System, it provides surveillance and more efficiency of the airport’s surface and of aircraft on approach. Digital Tower Suite enhances a controller’s ability to manage airport traffic in all visibility and weather conditions.
