Background

Underwater Systems develops and produces underwater products for the civil and defense markets. The products shall be able to withstand the tough operating conditions in the environment where it operates. This includes the ability to survive vibrations and shocks.

Description of the master thesis

This Master Thesis aims at developing modelling methods to analyze and predict structural strength of electronic circuit boards. The aim is to study structural failure of circuit boards and the structural and electronic bonding of the electronic components towards the circuit board with focus on shocks, impact and vibration. As a part of the master thesis, the aim is to conduct drop tests to verify the modelling methods.

Your profile

This Master Thesis is suitable for students with interest in applied physics and structural analysis. You are at the end of your master degree in mechanical engineering, applied physics or equivalent and is about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP. Prerequisites for the Master Thesis work is fulfilled classes at basic and advanced level within the areas of applied physics and structural mechanics. You also need to have knowledge within computational methods such as the Finite Element Method.

It is preffered that the thesis is carried out by 2 students in cooperation but the scope can also be adopted for a single student.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
