All systems – one interface
The TactiCall VCS allows Air Traffic Service providers to address key challenges; increasing capacity and efficiency, reducing costs, and adapting to rapid technical evolution and upcoming requirements.
Saab equips air traffic controllers with a robust user-friendly communication interface that delivers enhanced situational awareness, collaborative working and resource sharing across networked and virtualized centre operations.
Robust and future proof
TactiCall VCS uses a highly resilient and distributed system architecture. The architecture is designed to eliminate single points of failure and maintaining safety critical communication services. For a very high reliability.
All system components can be replaced or upgraded independently without any effect to the system’s operation. The scalability of TactiCall VCS ensures easy and cost-effective expansion with new VCS partitions, Controller Working Position (CWP) and radios without degradation in performance.
Micro service Architecture
TactiCall VCS is built using a container-based micro service architecture in order to add efficiency, reliability, and security to the software development lifecycle and simplify deployment and IT maintenance. Using industry standard Docker container technology, each containerized application and process is isolated and operates independently of others.
These next-generation approaches, where containers, micro services and cloud computing are working together, brings TactiCall VCS and other ATC applications into new integration levels and at the same time improve reliability, security and maintenance.
Collaborative Working
The fully IP based TactiCall VCS solution facilitates virtual control centres, interoperability and collaboration between networked radios and control centres.
By having the control rooms separated from the infrastructure, voice communication is hosted and operated as a common infrastructure service, serving traditional towers, remote towers and area control centres irrespective of their geographical location and without compromising safety and security.
Furthermore, TactiCall VCS supports the latest trends in centralized and dynamic air space control. For digital remote tower solutions, our VCS system is able to handle to multiple airports.
Multiple Remote Airport Operations
A single Controller Working Position (CWP) user interface supports simultaneous and safe operations of multiple airports, fully supporting the remote tower concept and the efficient operation of multiple remote tower locations.
CWP Integration
Air Traffic Control positions are often overcrowded with displays and input devices. The controllers have to operate many different ATC applications and HMI workflows, which can lead to loss of overview and errors. TactiCall VCS can be used traditionally as stand-alone, but can also be integrated with ATC automation systems, such as digital tower solutions where all applications can be accessed from few displays – a more effective and flexible working environment for controllers.
