Saab keeps Swedish Navy up-to-date

1 min read + Video

Like most nations with a navy, Sweden needs to keep as many ships available as possible and operational at sea. Maintenance, upgrades and enhancements need to be carried out rapidly with minimal interference on daily operations.

Sweden is among the best countries in the world when it comes to operational availability and number of ships at sea. Through close collaboration with the navy and FMV (Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) Saab can continously provide upgrades and offer platforms with up-to-date capabilities.

Jenny Ström, Commanding Officer 3rd Naval Warfare Flotilla, has recently recieved the last out of five, upgraded Visby-class corvettes. Saab has performed upgrades and modifications of systems onboard the ships. Even though they are more than 20 years old, they are still unique and ahead of most comparable ships in the world. They will now be a welcomed contribution to maintaining Sweden's sovereighty at sea.
