Saab signs collaboration and asset transfer agreement of the Head-Up Display (HUD) to Honeywell

Saab has signed a collaboration agreement with long standing industry partner Honeywell.

The agreement sets out a three-year collaboration between Saab and Honeywell which upon completion transfers the Head-Up Display (HUD) assets to Honeywell for Honeywell’s cockpit avionics systems, including the next-generation Honeywell Anthem integrated flight deck. Saab’s HUD is an advanced, light-weight integrated head up display, which improves safety during all phases of flight. With high resolution and excellent optical quality, the HUD provides crisp and clear flight information enabling head-up/eyes-out operations, significantly enhancing situational awareness and flight safety.

Under the agreement Saab and Honeywell will establish a joint development team to make the HUD readily available for the market and to become an integral part of Honeywell’s avionics offerings, including in Honeywell Anthem. Although the terms of the transaction are not disclosed, after the completion of the hybrid contract (e.g. collaboration and asset transfer), Honeywell will take full ownership of the HUD.

“Saab believes that this agreement further establishes Saab and Honeywell as long-term partners and increases greater market opportunities for us,” says Carl-Johan Bergholm, Head of Saab´s business area Surveillance.

“The addition of HUDs as part of our wider avionics offerings will provide our customers in business aviation, air transport and defense segment a great safety tool that can be particularly useful during takeoff and landing, which are typically the most crucial parts of any flight,” said Vipul Gupta, Vice President and General Manager, Avionics, Honeywell Aerospace.
