Saab reduces staffing by 65 in Karlskoga
Saab Bofors Dynamics has today given notice affecting 65 people at the company’s production unit in Karlskoga, Sweden.
The move follows a period of declining order bookings for antitank systems, a situation which is not deemed temporary. “After several years of excellent capacity utilization which has led to new jobs, we are now seeing a tangible reduction. All indications are that we have to adapt our resources to a lower level of incoming orders. It is regrettable and will affect some highly skilled co-workers, but unfortunately the move is absolutely necessary,” says Alberto Morello, head of production at Saab Bofors Dynamics. Negotiations have been entered into with the relevant union organisations. Approximately 900 people currently work at Saab Bofors Dynamics in Karlskoga, around 300 of them at the production unit. Including this latest workforce reduction, Saab has reduced staffing by approximately 900 employees in 2005 and to date in 2006. Saab is one of the world’s leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defence, aviation and space. The Group covers a broad spectrum of competence and capability in systems integration.
