Saab Aircraft Leasing Releases 1st Quarter Trend Analysis for 2004
Saab Aircraft Leasing Releases 1st Quarter Trend Analysis for 2004 Saab Aircraft Leasing continues to track worldwide scheduled departures for the 19-50 seat aircraft categories. Planned flight schedules for first quarter 2004 have just been released enabling SAL to compile a five-year trend-line (2000-2004) and to perform a preliminary trend analysis for the 1st quarter of this year. (See attached Appendix for accompanying Charts 1-4.) Summarizing the results of the SAL analysis, Michael Magnusson, President and CEO of Saab Aircraft Leasing comments,"On a world-wide perspective, for the first quarter of 2004, total turboprop and RJ departures now exceed year 2000 levels for the first time since then. Turboprops still account for the majority of departures (54%). North America continues to represent a majority of the worldwide market with 62%. RJs outnumber turboprops for the second year in a row at 58% of all departures, turboprops at 42%. Activity in Europe reveals that RJ departures have actually declined in 2003 versus 2002 for 19- to 50-seat aircraft. This was prompted by the migration of about 18-20 used RJs to the US during 2003. In Europe, turboprop activity outnumbers RJs with 61% of total departures. For the rest of the world, turboprops completely dominate with 88% of all departures."
