Saab, Inc. Teams Up with Organizations Supporting U.S. Veterans

4 min read

Saab cares deeply about playing a positive role in the communities where we live and work and in society as a whole. We are proud to partner with organizations across the U.S. dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of veterans and their families.

U.S. veterans have selflessly served their country, facing immense challenges both on and off the battlefield. As a company with more than 15% of its workforce comprised of veterans, Saab, Inc. is devoted to supporting veterans through volunteering, financial contributions, and ongoing partnerships with organizations that aid U.S. armed forces and their families.

Partnerships That Empower Veterans

Saab understands that our nation’s veterans often return home from proudly serving our country with unmet needs. The company has partnered with several organizations dedicated to veteran well-being, from addressing food insecurity to providing opportunities for healing, connection and growth. Saab’s partnerships with these originations represent a collective effort to honor veterans’ sacrifices while addressing their unique and often ongoing needs.

Feed Our Vets

Addressing food insecurity among veterans and their families is a priority for Saab. One of the top organizations focusing on this effort is Feed Our Vets, a regional non-profit dedicated to addressing food insecurity within our veteran community. In 2023, Saab donated more than 1,500 pounds of food and $15,080. This year, Saab’s team was driven to surpass that goal. The company’s Syracuse office recently organized a food drive and donated over 1,900 pounds of food. Saab matched these efforts with an additional $10 per pound, resulting in a $19,140 contribution to Feed Our Vets.

“Every year, we support thousands of vets and their families. Saab’s continued support and very generous donations have made a significant positive impact on our ability to stock our stores with free groceries and meals for food-insecure veterans, active-duty members, and their families,” said Rich Synek, founder of Feed Our Vets.

Clear Path for Veterans

Saab is proud to support Clear Path for Veterans, an organization that provides holistic support for veterans, service members, and military families. Clear Path offers a range of services, including a canine program that trains and matches service dogs with veterans to aid in their transition and healing. In addition to ongoing financial contributions, Erik Smith, Saab’s CEO and president in the U.S., serves on the board and several employees have served as foster parents for dogs in training.

Honor Flight Network

Honor Flight Network provides veterans a no-cost opportunity to travel to Washington, DC, to spend time at the memorials built to observe and honor their service. Saab’s teams in Syracuse, NY, and West Lafayette, IN, regularly volunteer their time and logistics assistance to this organization, making these trips possible for Veterans in those areas.

“Honor Flight Syracuse succeeds in its mission because of the energy and passion of our many community partners.  Saab has been a key partner, providing volunteer leadership, fundraising and in-kind warehouse space between trips to house critical support materials,” said Dick Blansett, board member, Honor Flight Syracuse. “We deeply appreciate Saab’s ongoing commitment to the veteran community.”

TAPS: Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors

TAPS provides grief counseling, peer mentoring and youth programs for families who have lost loved ones in military service. Saab’s financial donations aid these essential programs, ensuring families receive compassionate care and support.

“I want to voice again how deeply grateful we are for the support SAAB has provided for military survivors over the years. It never ceases to leave me in awe to watch the transformation that occurs in only a few short days at retreats where strangers become a community of support for one another and deep pain is lightened by finding others to help carry it. This is only possible because organizations like yours make it so,” said Erin Jacobson, Director, Adult Programs, Tragedy Assistance Program For Survivors.

Honoring Service, Building Futures

By supporting organizations that provide understanding, encouragement and direct assistance, Saab aims to ensure the veteran community is not only recognized for their service, but also empowered for their future.

To all veterans and their families, Saab thanks you for your service and sacrifices. Along with their employees, the company honors your legacy and looks forward to continuing to support those who serve.
