Micael Johansson Discusses Technology and Innovation at Indiana Global Economic Summit
Saab’s President and CEO, Micael Johansson, and Erik Smith, President and CEO of Saab, Inc., joined Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb for the inaugural Indiana Global Economic Summit in Indianapolis on May 26th. In a panel discussion at the summit, Micael Johansson spoke on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across industry, the importance of utilizing technology to increase efficiency and quality, and Saab’s com¬mitment to doing business in Indiana.
“Saab is proud to have a growing presence in the Hoosier state. Our collaboration with Purdue on AI/Machine Learning, and Saab’s New, smart production facility in West Lafayette, where all future production of the T-7 aft fuselage will take place, underscores Saab’s close ties to Indiana,” said Saab’s President and CEO Micael Johansson.
Saab and Purdue are collaborating on several AI/Machine Learning programs through direct investments in research and technology.
Additionally, Saab in West Lafayette, where manufacturing of the aft section of the new, modern, and advanced pilot training system for the U.S. Air Force (USAF) takes place, is leading in aerostructures manufacturing and research with significant investments in advanced manufacturing.
With the T-7A Red Hawk, Boeing and Saab have applied an innovative digital strategy for design, development, and production of military aircraft. For several years, model-based engineering has been integral to Saab’s success – first, with the development of Gripen E, and now, as part of the T-7 program. Most recently the USAF designed our aircraft as the E-T7A welcoming this modernization as a new capability.
