Project Controls - multiple roles

The roles

Saab Naval Combat Systems is seeking interest from Project Controls team members to join their growing team within Saab where you can get exposure to a range of projects with a focus on Naval Combat Systems.

The Project Controls Manager will lead the project controls function and provide subject matter expertise in a maritime defence environment. This includes the development, deployment and compliance of project control tools, systems, training, implementation, and follow-up to ensure proper utilisation. They will also manage daily tasking of a project controls team.

The Senior Project Planner and Controllers and Project Planner and Controller will provide advice, guidance, cost and schedule baseline maintenance including reporting of project cost and schedule status. The Senior PPC will mentor other Project Planner and Controllers, Project Managers, CAMs and Task Managers in the area of project planning, monitoring and control.

Further, the successful candidates will:

  • Establish and maintain fully integrated schedule and cost baselines for a program 
  • Develop and maintain work breakdown budgets, incorporating earned value management best practises
  • Develop and implement cost control and forecasting methods and planning and scheduling practices
  • Provide SME in support of internal, external reviews and audits
  • Assist in the development of program master schedules and Cobra master programs
  • Assist in the generation of customer deliverables 

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • PCM role: Demonstrated leadership acumen, with the ability to guide, coach and mentor the project controls team toward outstanding outcomes for the business
  • Extensive experience as a project planner and controller for projects of medium to high complexity within a Defence environment is highly desirable
  • Experience in an earned value (EV) defence project environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and an effective understanding of project performance measurement using earned value to AS4817 and the Defence Supplement
  • Knowledge and understanding of Project Management processes e.g. PMBOK
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using project management software e.g. Open Plan Professional and Microsoft Project

As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
