Product Engineering Support Team Leader

The role

As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the Product Engineering Support Team Leader will support the Hardware Product Manager with ongoing management of the product delivery support functions to the Hardware Engineering team.  This will include project management support through the co-ordination of work across the Product Engineering Support Team members, development and maintenance of product support processes, planning and co-ordination of product release activities through MRO, supporting the release tracking and management of engineering documents and provision of support to the Configuration Management function within the Hardware Group.  The Hardware Product Engineering Support Team Lead is also responsible for the leadership and performance management of the Product Coordinators within the team.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Provision of Product Engineering Support services to the Hardware Group to ensure all products have all the required supporting documents that will be delivered at customer milestones
  • Support the Product Manager to ensure products meet all customer and company requirements in terms of schedule, cost, safety, serviceability, maintainability and quality
  • Support the Product Manager with administration of domestic and international estimates for new or existing products
  • Assist in developing the Hardware product roadmap and track and chase up progress against schedule
  • Support the Hardware Group with gathering and tracking cost information for bespoke and COTS solutions
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding product status and implementation issues

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Understanding of the lifecycles of small to medium sized hardware defence projects and appreciation of associated processes and levels of responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management software tools (preferably Windchill)
  • Ability to read and understand Saab specific engineering drawings, documentation, diagrams, specifications and standards
  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM) practices and Quality requirements (ISO 9001)
  • Related industry experience of at least 5 years
  • An understanding of design for manufacturing


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
