Background
Saab Training & Simulation, provide our customers with realistic ground combat training systems all the way from combined arms on a brigade level down to individual soldiers. Our mission is to improve the training, as well as develop new capabilities that enhance the training ability, of our customers. We want to explore the potential in applied AI to provide specialized empirical grounds for decision making. It is important that the users of our systems have confidence in our predictions and explanations.
Assignment
There are a couple of potential ideas which can be of interest for this assignment, see examples below. Selected candidates will be invited to discuss these ideas in more detail, to further assess the feasibility and direction of the assignment.
Example 1 – Accurate Sensor Filtering from Body Motion Capture Data
Investigate which minimal set of sensors from a body motion capture suit that is necessary in order to accurately capture relevant motions in specific exercises. This involves collecting data using a motion capture suit in various exercises. Data collection can be synced with Example 2.
Example 2 – Stereo Camera for Detailed Body Motion Capture
Investigate how accurately a full body capture of motions can be done using stereo cameras. Ground truth is captured using a full body motion capture suit. Data collection can be synced with Example 1.
Your profile
We are looking for students at the end of their master studies within AI Engineering, Computer Science or similar. In order to successfully complete the project, you will need a strong background in machine learning, computer science and mathematics.
