Manager: Maintenance & Support Capability

The purpose of this role is to ensure the operational readiness of the organisation to meet customer support and after-sales needs.  The incumbent will be required to ensure that support concepts, support models and all the necessary capabilities are in place to meet customer requirements and facilitate business growth.

Your role

  • Define In-Service Support and After-Sales concepts and business models
  • Develop and implement In-Service Support models based upon the required concepts and business models
  • Support Product Management in the definition of the relevant support elements within product business cases
  • Define the test environments, in conjunction with the relevant product / project engineers, needed to support all products
  • Ensure the continued availability of the test environments needed for product repair and testing
  • Co-ordinate the compilation, review and approval of maintenance documentation, such as Component Maintenance Manuals
  • Co-ordinate the management of maintenance data, for example FRACAS data / information
  • Implement and maintain the relevant repair processes
  • Ensure the availability of spares for the use in repairs in accordance with the specific repair approach (D-Level/I-Level)
  • Prepare repair forecasts as input to the shopfloor capacity planning
  • Secure the adherence to contractual Repair Turn Around Times (TAT), and drive improvements when needed
  • Determine, in conjunction with the relevant product and programme managers, the end-user requirements for test equipment to be delivered into 3rd party Maintenance and Repair Organisations (MROs) and ensure the inclusion of such requirements in the development specifications
  • Ensure compliance to aviation Maintenance Organisation Approvals (MOAs) held by the company, such as FAA/EASA Part 145
  • Guide and lead the establishment of remote and/or 3rd party Maintenance and Repair Organisations that act on behalf of the company

Your profile

Specialist Knowledge Required:

  • Thorough understanding of Customer Support and MRO operations within the defence industry
  • Thorough understanding of In-Service Support and After-sales concepts and business models
  • Working knowledge of Civil/Military Aviation Requirements will be an advantage

Practical Experience Required :

  • More than 7 years’ work experience within a defence-orientated Customer Support environment is preferred
  • Hands-on experience in the definition, implementation and monitoring of In-Service Support processes
  • Experience in the planning of repair spares and ensuring availability of test equipment
  • Experience in the formulation of support strategy and business models will be advantageous
  • Experience in executing customer support projects will be an advantage

Competencies:

  • Strong drive towards ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Strong business focus on realising profitable business within the support and after-sales domain
  • Strong planning capabilities

Qualification:

  • A tertiary qualification in the engineering domain (e.g. Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Integrated Logistic Support) is preferable
