Job Description:
Saab is seeking an on-site Lead HR Business Partner in Grayling, Michigan, to collaborate with business leaders and the HR Operations team in developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives that align with our business goals. This role will provide guidance and leadership on HR matters while partnering with leaders at all levels. As a key member of the leadership team, this individual will play a vital role in establishing our new operation in Grayling, Michigan.
HR Business Partner Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary HR partner for the Grayling, MI location, providing strategic HR guidance to managers on all workforce-related matters.
Collaborate with HR Operations team to roll out company-wide HR initiatives and programs, including performance management, compensation, rewards and recognition, policies, compliance and training efforts.
Drive employee relations strategies, coaching managers on best practices and leading investigations as needed.
Support leadership in identifying key talent and collaborating on growth plans, ensuring strong succession planning and leadership development.
Guide new leaders through Saab’s HR practices and support their integration with their teams.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations and reporting requirements.
Represent Saab as an HR ambassador by participating in industry groups, networking events, and relevant professional development opportunities.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Responsibilities:
Partner with hiring managers to assess staffing needs and help define job requirements.
In partnership with the Talent Acquisition team develop and execute talent acquisition strategies to attract top candidates.
Monitor and report on candidate pipelines as requested by the Talent Acquisition team, ensuring alignment with workforce planning goals.
Facilitate management panel interviews and provide guidance on candidate selection.
Guide hiring managers on Workday recruitment functionality and ensure compliance with recruitment policies and legal requirements.
Manage some aspects of the preboarding and aspects of the onboarding process as required.
May represent Saab at some career fairs and recruiting events to enhance employer.
Compensation Range: $112,900- $146,800
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field with 6+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a business partner role. Experience in manufacturing, defense, or technology is a plus.
Solid experience in employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, and HR program and policy deployment.
Strong understanding of labor laws, HR best practices, and experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (Workday preferred).
Experience in guiding and coaching leaders to ensure consistency in applying company policies, procedures, and best practices, fostering strong managerial capabilities.
Ability to build relationships, partner with managers, provide strategic HR guidance, and coach leaders on people management.
Strong communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and collaboration skills.
Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to align HR initiatives with business goals and drive continuous improvement.
