ICT Business Analyst-2

As part of Saab’s IT group, the Senior IT Business Analyst will work across the business to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements to deliver enhanced IT solutions and outcomes to the business.

The role will be key in managing stakeholders, communicating with vendors and suppliers and will require excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to drive change and improvement initiatives.

As a senior member of the Business Engagement team you will provide support to the Business Engagement Manager assisting in the coordination of team tasks and activities, and when required represent the team on behalf of the Team Leadership.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Lead and facilitate discovery workshops and interviews to elicit and validate business and technology requirements;

  • Assist and support the Business Engagement Manager with:

    • coordination of the Business Engagement team tasks and activities;

    • Relationship management with vendors, who support the Business Engagement function;

    • When required, represent the Business Engagement team in business forums and IT operational meetings, etc. when required; and

    • Training, Mentoring and Developing other members of the Business Engagement team.

  • Support the delivery of projects, including the creation of user stories and test procedures;

  • Create and maintain traceability between requirements and implemented solutions throughout project lifecycles;

  • Develop business cases, feasibility reports and cost/benefit analysis for solutions and proposals for project funding;

  • Analyse data and provide insights to inform decision makers;

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external vendors and suppliers;

  • Contribute to the design of solutions that will deliver business and project objectives in an innovative and cost-effective manner;

  • Maintain, update and create operational, support and end user documentation, and conduct training as required;

  • Provide guidance and recommendations for effective business improvement initiatives across Saab’s processes and systems;

  • Report and communicate with ICT Management on key issues and task outcomes;

  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system; and

  • Perform other duties as assigned, in line with the role.

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years in a Business Analyst role, or similar position;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels;

  • Proven experience in writing effective Business Cases;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Strong skills in requirements gathering and documentation, including writing user stories and acceptance criteria;

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise systems, integrations and development platforms;

  • Demonstrated high level of organisational skills including the capacity to set priorities for self and/or others and work to deadlines;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other support systems such as Jira and SharePoint;

  • Experience working on waterfall and Agile SDLC projects;

  • Experience in business process modelling using industry standard tools and techniques;

  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgement in complex decision making;

  • Fundamental understanding and awareness of information security and how this is applied in operational environments;

  • Fundamental understanding of ITIL principles;

  • Fundamental understanding and awareness of information security and how this is applied in operational environments; and

  • Adapt to changing priorities, tasks and requirements;
