Your role

We are now looking for a Head of Design for Product Unit UTAAS & Trackfire. This is a great opportunity for you who wants to contribute to succeed with our business. You will be a part of the newly created Product Unit with the aim to secure and grow our important business within the product areas of UTAAS and Trackfire. You will also be a part of the PU management team.

UTAAS is a versatile sight and fire control system for tanks and combat vehicles. It provides high hit probability against all ground targets, as well as against helicopters and high‑speed aircraft. Trackfire is a Remote Weapon Station designed for use on all types of military platforms including vehicles, vessels and static emplacements. The operator benefits from a fully stabilised, remotely operated weapons and sensor system which provides cutting edge performance irrespective of environment.

As Head of Design you will lead a management team with several engineering competences like systems design, HW and SW development. The formation of the organization and its line managers is on-going and you will be important in this evolvement. You will have an important role to execute ongoing contracts efficiently, win new business and grow both competence and number of employees the coming years.

Together with your team you will:

  • Build competence and capability to succeed with our business
  • Cooperate closely with important interfaces, both within the Product Unit organization and outside; especially important interface is the 9LV Design organisation and Production
  • Define and drive both short and long-term goals in line with the business strategy

Daily work will be varied; developing people, business and ways-of-working. You will also be involved in discussions regarding product development and the work related to getting our systems and its capability out at customers.

The main tasks within the management team are:

  • Responsibility for all design resources; including ways of working and process adaptions valid for the entire product unit
  • Monitor, analyse and act upon the short and long-term need of competence to succeed with our project deliveries
  • Supply the right competence at the right time for successful project execution, both teams and resources
  • Responsible for financial result and follow-up of the Design organisation

Your profile

Your leadership and cooperation skills are what matters most. Your drive to develop this department to meet the organization’s needs, both short and long-term, will be highly valued. A technical background is of importance to be relevant for this position and the challenges you will phase. Experience from an industry with low volume series and/or advanced products is a merit. You set high expectations for yourself and the organization and is highly self‐directed.

Required skills:

  • Experience in leading and developing people including leading leaders

  • Interest in making things better

  • An academic degree within a technical field

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of project management

  • Experience of product development and low volume production

  • UTAAS and/or Trackfire product knowledge

Your personality and previous experience will play an important role in leading this organisation. Building relationships and gaining the trust of your stakeholders will be keys to succeed. The complexity requires many competences to deliver the wanted capability and this is a part of the challenge. Your interest to understand the business and wish to develop our ways-of-working will be of great importance. The focus will be to deliver on time with a transparent communication throughout the whole organisation.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
