Closing date: 6 April 2025

Want to influence the bigger picture? At Saab, you can realise amazing innovations that keep people and societies safe. Together, we can truly make an impact – and your part matters.

Your role

As a member of the Swedish Government Affairs team, you will support Saab’s international strategy by analysing the business, political and economic landscape of prioritised countries. Your role will focus on providing strategic insights and supporting market development efforts in collaboration with Saab Group Business Development (GBD), Country Units, and Business Areas.

A key aspect of your role will be to guide Saab within priority markets and assess political risks, and advice on which projects and initiatives should receive strategic focus and support. This requires a deep understanding of the political landscape, Saab's core competencies and long-term business objectives.

You will work closely with the Swedish Government Affairs team and Saab’s business areas and country units to provide strategic advice on actions supporting market opportunities. The analysis and briefings you produce will offer guidance to senior leaders, relevant parts of Saab’s organisation, and other stakeholders.

You are expected to elaborate and present proposals on what position and actions Saab should assume. Your work is important for and supports Saab’s export cooperation with government agencies and the Government Office.

The role requires you to work independently while maintaining close coordination with the Swedish Government Affairs team and collaborating across Saab to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals. To succeed, you need to be accustomed to working under deadlines and handling short-notice requests.

As a node collaborator with both internal and external actors, you are also expected to identify and develop areas of improvement in Saab’s work within this area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of prioritised countries, focusing on political, economic, defence and security factors relevant to Saab's business objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support market opportunities in these countries, in close collaboration with GBD, Country Units, and Business Areas. Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies.
  • Monitor geopolitical trends relevant to Saab's business, identify risks in international operations, and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
  • Prepare and deliver regular briefings, reports, and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare materials and support Saab's engagement in bilateral meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, international organisations, and other stakeholders, while actively participating in international conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Oversee and coordinate international engagement initiatives, ensuring timely completion and alignment with organisational goals.

It also leads advocacy and outreach efforts, coordinates market and export support, and engages with key stakeholders to advance Saab’s public policy objectives.

Group Government Affairs consists of two departments; Swedish Government Affairs and NATO and EU Office. The current job opportunity is placed at Swedish Government Affairs and reports to the Head of Government Affairs, Per de la Gardie.
