Job Description:

Saab, Inc has an exciting opportunity for an Exercise Sustainment Lead to provide integral support to our force-on-force program working on site at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Quantico.

The Exercise Sustainment Lead provides integral support to the FoFTS-Next program. The Exercise Sustainment Lead is the principal leader for managing the staffing, logistical requirements, and lead the Saab team in support of off-site exercise support from the home station. The Exercise Sustainment Lead supervises the logistical movement of MCTIS equipment prior to and during an exercise. When required, the Exercise Sustainment Lead mans the Exercise Control (ExCon) workstations during exercises and contributes to the various After Action Review products.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Reports to the Saab Site Lead.

  • Ensure all Field Service Representatives and System Operators are properly trained for the roles which they are filling.

  • Works with the Operations Officer to develop and lead periods of instruction focused on sustainment training for the Field Service Representatives and System Operators

  • Line manages the Field Service Representatives and System Operators during day-to-day operations at the CROW and in support of an exercise.

  • Works with the Site Leads and Operations Officers to develop a Saab Exercise Manning Document (EMD) detailing the personnel required to support the exercises that must be surged from other locations.

  • When required, work with the Operations Officer to identify Field Service Representatives and System Operators from MCAGCC to surge to other locations in support of exercises.

Pre-Exercise/ Deployment:

  • Supervises the conduct of New Equipment Training during the MCTIS issuance process.

  • Supervises the prep and issuance of all MCTIS equipment for home station and off-site exercises.

  • Supervise the movement of all containers in support of an exercise

  • Supervise the movement of all back-up generators in support of an exercise

  • Responsible for ensuring all generators are fueled prior to an exercise.

  • In coordination with the Operations Officer, build contact teams consisting of FSRs and System Operators for exercise support

  • When required, identify FSR and System Operator personnel to surge to other locations in support of MCCRE, SLTE, MWX exercises.

  • Assist the exercise leadership in preparation of the ROSTER / Order of Battle.

  • Other

  • Assists with the erection and maintenance of the communication system if required.

  • Assists any other CROW teams on the exercise, as required.

  • Supports any Saab marketing activity as required.

  • Assists with any continuation/cross training, as required.

  • Provides input for performance assessment of MCTIS System Operators and Field Service Representatives, as required.

Exercise Support:

  • During an exercise, leads a designated team of Field Service Representatives and System Operators.

  • Manage logistical resupply of batteries or other MCTIS equipment during the conduct of an exercise.

  • Responsible for coordinating fuel re-supply for all generators during an exercise.

  • Responsible for managing and ensuring vehicle fleet is operational and re-supplied during the support of an exercise

  • When required during a MCCRE or SLTE, supports the Lead System Analyst in the development of the AAR and ‘Take Home” package.

  • Exercise Support when required to function as a System Analyst

  • When required, operates the Manpack system to provide AAR support.

  • When required , operate the full desktop WinEXCON system to provide AAR support.

  • When required, executes Area Weapon Effect Simulation (AWES) plans and orders received.

  • When required , proposes dynamic scenario adaptations based on training guidance provided by the Operations Officer and Unit Commander.

  • When required, monitors progress of the exercise to ensure capture of key data points to support the DAR/AAR.

  • When required, communicates with the uniformed Observer/Controllers during the conduct of the exercise to ensure MNN’s and PNN’s are in the correct positions.

  • When required, provide analysis and content for AAR support throughout the exercise as detailed by the Operations Officer and Lead System Analyst. This may be achieved through deployment as company teams or as an individual in the SLTE ExCon team.

  • When required, assists in generating reports and statistics, with information processed from actual data based on training priorities discussed during pre-training coordination conducted with the unit commander.

Post-Exercise:

  • Establish MCTIS equipment turn-in locations and manage designated personnel support equipment turn-in

  • Assists with the retrograde and maintenance of the communication system if required.

  • Responsible for ensuring all generators are recovered after an exercise and proper maintenance is conducted on all generators.

  • If required, assists with preparing material for DAR and AAR.

  • If required, participates in the execution of DAR/AAR.

  • If required, assists with the production of the ‘Take Home Pack’.

  • If required, assist with any data exploitation tasks, as required.

  • If required, monitors AAR creation and output from MCTIS System Analysts, identifying trends to enhance product delivery

  • Support warehouse operations and post-exercise maintenance on MCTIS equipment, and other tasks and duties when required by Site Leadership.

Other:

  • Attend training in CONUS or OCONUS as required.

  • Support Saab marketing activity, as required.

  • Support other Saab projects as required.

  • When required, surge to other locations in support of MCTIS exercises, whether that be to support Non-Homesite Installation Training or support of the conduct of an SLTE or MWX at another USMC installation.


Compensation Range: $91,000-$113,800

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Experience and Skills:

  • Former USMC Officer (Captain or above) or former USMC SNCO (SSgt or above)

  • Understanding of USMC Combined Arms tactics; Tactics, Techniques & Procedures

  • Experience/expertise in Maneuver, Intelligence, Fires, Logistics, Information Environment, or Aviation

  • Analytical skills and experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand and walk for long periods of time

  • Potential for extreme weather conditions (over 90 degrees, or below 30 degrees)

Requirements:

  • US Driving License

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

  • If required, able to travel for up to 14-days to conduct training or support a training event

  • CDL certified or ability to obtain CDL (optional)

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
