Your Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Engineering Manager to play an important role in building and shaping our growing engineering team. In this role, you will not only lead but also actively contribute to defining our team's culture, ways of working, and technical direction. You will be key in creating a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing, agile methodology and a growth mindset are the guiding stars.

This position will start within the organisation of Future Capabilities and after some time transit into the larger development organisation of one Business Unit of Saab Dynamics.

Responsibilities:

  • Team-building and Leadership: Lead and coach a team of different engineering disciplines with competence in areas of software development, software architecture, open-source software, application building, guidance, navigation & control (GN&C), image processing, AI, and autonomy. Actively participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members, helping to build a high-performing and diverse team.
  • Define Ways of Working: Collaborate with the interfaces around the team to establish efficient and effective software development processes, methodologies, and best practices. Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Mentorship: Facilitate knowledge sharing and mentorship within the team, ensuring that expertise is effectively transferred from more experienced colleagues to newer team members.
  • Technical Strategy: Facilitate and drive the technical vision and strategy within the team, aligning with projects’ scope, the broader product roadmap and company goals.
  • Technical Interest: Stay informed of emerging technologies and industry best practices, guiding the team in adopting to innovative solutions.
  • Business Acumen: Understand the business context of projects, prioritise tasks based on impact and urgency, and make decisions that contribute to the overall success of the business.

The position is based in Solna, where the company will soon be relocating to new premises.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in preferably software engineering, with a proven track record of leading and managing teams.
  • Good understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Some technical expertise and eager to learn about software development, software architecture, open-source software, application building, guidance, navigation & control (GN&C), image processing, AI, and autonomy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with different stakeholders and customers, understanding their needs.
  • Passion for building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of trust, expertise and drive.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply
