Combat Systems Technical Officers

The role

Working on secondment within the Combat Systems Integration Integrated Product Team (CSI-IPT), the Combat Systems Above Water Sensor Technician will operate as part of the broader engineering team within the DDG Combat Systems Test Team. This collaboration also involves the customer, the Commonwealth of Australia, to ensure implementation and verification of the DDG Combat System.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide technical support for Hobart Class Above Water Sensors, and associated equipment operations and maintenance
  • Contribute to ensuring Above Water Sensor elements are activated, operational, available and properly configured to support testing event, including equipment suites, computer programs, set-up configurations, equipment interfaces and identification of correct data extraction requirements
  • Perform a wide range of activities supporting the operation, maintenance and configuration of the Above Water Sensor
  • Identify and resolve equipment and documentation discrepancies
  • Assist test performance activities with collection and analysis of system performance data and in the resolution of radar logistics issues
  • Utilise special or general-purpose test equipment, tools, optical aids and other techniques during troubleshooting, maintenance and equipment repair process as required
  • Ensure compliance with all security policy and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance management process including authorisation, conduct, recording and verification tasks as required

A 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • At least 3 to 5 years in a similar systems engineering environment supporting subsystems
  • Conducting fault detection/fault isolation procedures and performing maintenance/repair activities
  • Supporting preventative and demand maintenance techniques and their practical application to complex problems
  • Directing and mentoring personnel in operation and maintenance activities
  • Certificate III or above in electronics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science/engineering, electrical instrumentation, communications engineering, engineering technical and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Maintaining and repairing network systems and equipment, integrated systems, sub-systems, and software (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of general-purpose test equipment, diagnostic tools, computers and computer programs
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow through and investigate issues with a thorough, methodological approach with a focus on drawing out quality solutions
  • An adaptable and flexible approach to changing needs or priorities.

Applicants are required to hold an AGSVA baseline or NV1 clearance.
