Capture Manager

The role

As part of our Land & Aerospace group, the Capture Manager will support the Land & Aerospace (L&A) business line providing winning strategies, proposals and successfully negotiating contracts for the execution of future L&A programs.

The Capture Manager responsible for the leadership, development, and execution and reporting of capture activities for allocated Business Opportunities. This role will collaborate across L&A, the wider Saab Australia as required and with Saab Group Business Units.

The Capture Manager also has responsibility for effective leadership of a team of capture and bid manager(s) and is will support the development of L&A strategy. Responsibility also includes oversight of the delivery of quality proposals (collaborating with business development) to the customer in accordance with the Win Business Process.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead capture activities within the L&A business line for allocated Business Opportunities in line with established Win Business process.
  • Actively support and contribute to L&A strategy development and, including the Order Intake, Strategic Priorities and yearly Business Plan.
  • Support Business Development in establishing the Long-Term Order Intake Plan and executing business development activities relevant to the L&A business.
  • Ensure effective and efficient operational outcomes, resourcing and budget management of the strategy and capture functions.
  • Oversight of the delivery of quality proposals (collaborating with business development) to the customer in accordance with the Win Business Process.
  • Work with the Commercial team and Business Development team to ensure that relevant agreements are established in support of tenders.

Flexible work arrangements such as 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Business, Management, Science, Engineering discipline Dot points
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a relevant domain (e.g. defence, industrial)
  • Conceptual and strategic thinking with advanced problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Experience in strategic planning and engaging enduring relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers and partners
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the development of capture strategies that have resulted in positive business outcomes
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary bid teams while being a strong team player
  • Ability to consult and communicate at all levels within a complex business environment
  • Demonstrates behaviours that reflect company values (Trust, Expertise, Drive)
  • Professional attitude with a high level of personal integrity and ethical standards


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
