The role
As a Capture Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the growth of Naval Combat Systems (NCS) through the development of winning capture strategies and the successful pursuit of key opportunities.
Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Head of Strategy and Growth, the Capture Manager will be responsible for managing the opportunity to award process. This includes ensuring a robust budget, schedule and risk management strategy. You will be developing solutions, pricing strategies to maximise win probability, customer solutions and stakeholder management plans. This role also encompasses competitive analysis, team formation and the development of proposal strategies.
This role can be based either in Adelaide or Perth.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Build strong relationships with customer, partner and industry partners to support strategic captures.
- Prepares and responds to requests for tenders and whitepapers as part of the Win Business (capture lifecycle) process.
- Lead and manage a cross functional capture team. Execute assigned capture activities that lead to securing new business and strategic sales growth.
- Gather, assess, and validate customer requirements, by working closely with BD leads – translate requirements and identify constraints to develop successful win strategies.
- Evolve capture strategies and plans throughout the Win Business. Deploy strategies to create differentiators, mitigate risks to develop compliant and compelling bids and improve probability of win.
- Drive development and completion of critical bid artefacts required for proposal development.
- Conducts and participates in gate, pricing, teaming, and capture reviews.
- Engage and leverage internal senior stakeholders throughout the capture process to support key process elements and ensure buy in, confidence and timely approvals.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- Proven experience leading successful captures for large and complex strategic opportunities within the Defence Maritime sector.
- Demonstrated experience leading and successfully prosecuting new business capture and proposal activities.
- Highly developed understanding of the Australian defence and related industrial landscape, including competitors, procurement cycles and strategic policy.
- Background in Maritime acquisition programs, with understanding of Naval Combat Systems.
- Highly effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders for varying purposes.
- Drive results, accountability, and efficiency for the customers and SAAB Australia.
- Tertiary qualifications in an engineering or project management or a science discipline.
- Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Certification is desirable
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
