CAD/PLM Team Leader

The role

As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the CAD/PLM Team Leader will provide leadership and management to a team of CAD Technicians that design Saab products. This includes owning and conducting design activities with active development and management of the CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, processes, standards and policies to ensure efficiency and standard practices across Hardware Engineering Group.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Working with the Hardware Team Leaders/Engineers to understand design requirements and limitations
  • Liaising with task/project managers for upcoming workloads, schedules and budgets
  • Ensure CAD deliverables are on time and within agreed budgets
  • Conduct or manage the CAD set up, templates, creation of parts/assemblies and data pack structures
  • Coordination of work for CAD team and monitoring and management of team task performance, artefact change management status and provision of progress reports
  • Management of software licences and IT assets required to conduct tasks
  • Ownership and management of CAD library parts and process for maintaining them

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Demonstrable experience with CAD and PLM tools (preferably CREO and Windchill)
  • Experience leading a team of CAD professionals
  • Full understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices
  • Ability to create advanced 3D CAD models/assemblies, associated 2D drawings and data packs
  • Full understanding of AS1100 and DEF(AUST)5085
  • Ability create and manage CAD metadata and libraries throughout a typical product design lifecycle

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
