Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Senior Marketing and Sales Manager to be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and customers.

This will be a remote position with duties located in the mid-Atlantic region, however with customer responsibility across the US.

You will be responsible for the Saab Inc. Land Systems Division’s Precision Fires portfolio in support of Saab Inc. marketing and business development efforts within the U.S.  This role will report to the Saab Inc. Director of Marketing and Sales within the Land Systems Division.
 

Major responsibilities will include:

  • Requirements shaping, campaign development, capture and Order Intake (O/I) for Precision Fires programs, including rocket artillery, and ground-based air defense.

  • Order intake (OI) tracking/reporting for Precision Fires pursuits and creating monthly status reports, pursuit status, projects, meetings with customers and industry, and similar type of project efforts.

  • Supporting Saab Inc., marketing and sales, business development and capture planning efforts for Saab products and initiatives. The employee shall be responsible as Capture Team Leader/Bid Manager for Land Systems projects.

  • Planning and executing product demonstrations in U.S.

  • The employee shall be responsible for Industry Associations: Primary POC for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps Field Artillery Association.

  • All Customer coordination in reference to Land Systems – Precision Fires (Fires Center of Excellence, Ft Sill, OK; PEO Missiles and Space, PM STORM and PM SHIELD at Huntsville, AL, PEO Ammunition and Armaments, PM-CCS, at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ; various National Guard units and the USMC, PfM Ground Combat Element Systems and PEO Land Systems.

  • Coordinating with the Saab Global business unit and business area personnel where necessary for key pursuits and program capture efforts.

  • Supporting Saab Inc., capture and gate process (the “Win Business (WB)” process) implementation within Saab Inc. and assist the Marketing and Sales team in managing key business pursuits/capture efforts, and input/maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) business tool.

  • Understanding business unit products and services combined with the ability to work with technical experts to identify solutions, which will meet customers' needs and requirements is crucial.

This role requires that the candidate interface across disciplines and departments and recommend changes to products and processes as necessary.

Lastly, this position will interface with our Industry partners – individual must have experience managing complex relationships diplomatically.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement capture plans and strategies, understand the customer’s requirements and the competition, and develop / implement winning strategies that highlight strengths and mitigate weaknesses; establish value added teaming strategies and competitive pricing structures to create a profitable return at a winning cost.

  • Participate in collaborative cross-functional teams in the development of capture plans to leverage all organizational strengths at Saab Inc., Land Systems. This includes the development of action-oriented capture plans, customer engagement plans, and providing operational and technical inputs to develop system solutions.

  • Develop and maintain excellent relations with customers. Ensure continuing customer relations and an effective flow of information to deliver business objectives.

  • Become a good corporate citizen of the community by participating in local professional organizations (e.g., AUSA, NDIA, Field Artillery Association, etc.), command sponsored events, charities and become a part of the customer community.

  • Coordinate with applicable U.S. DoD organizations, ASA/(ALT), the Pentagon (G3, G8) offices, Deputy Commandant Combat Development & Integration (DC CD&I), Deputy Commandant, Plans, Policies and Operations (DC PP&O) and local Defense Industries to identify mission needs, capabilities, and requirements in support of technical inputs and concept of operations to develop system solutions.

Compensation Range: $154,300-$204,500

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technical or related discipline. MBA is a plus.

  • 10 years of business development in defense industry and/or relevant military acquisition operations

  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition process

  • Knowledge of government procurement policies and procedures


Required Skills:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Secret level clearance.

  • Must possess outstanding leadership, communication, strategic planning,

  • Must be the Voice of the Customer and have outstanding relationship management skills.

  • Must have deep familiarity with U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps rocket/missiles/artillery and ammunition systems.   Must have experience with Redstone Arsenal and Picatinny Arsenal organizations such as PEO Missiles and Space, JPEO Armaments and Ammunition, CCDC/AC along with understanding of the U.S. Army requirements organizations.

  • Experience with Foreign Military Sales

Desired Experience:

  • U.S. DoD experience with rocket/missiles/artillery and understanding of DoD acquisition. processes, U.S. Army Cross Functional Teams (CFT’s), and Army Futures Command.

  • Expert Knowledge of and experience working with TRADOC or Future Forces Command

  • Expert Knowledge of and experience working with Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL).

  • Thorough knowledge of customers within the U.S. acquisition, requirements development, operational, test & evaluation and research & development communities
