AusCMS Platform Architect

The role

The Naval Combat Systems 9LV Platform is a Linux based secure runtime platform upon which the 9LV CMS runs, and in which CMS and other product development and test is carried out, worldwide.

The Platform Architect will share responsibility for the high level architecture and design of the 9LV Platform System to meet product-line and customer operational needs.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Participate in close collaboration with the local Naval Combat Systems Product Design, Software team, Platform development team and the Global 9LV Platform team.
  • Lead the Systems Engineering work for 9LV Platform including specification, design, V&V and supersystem integration.
  • Lead the design of new 9LV Platform architectures and capabilities.
  • Ensure that 9LV Platform meets customer operational needs and Saab’s supersystem needs.
  • Document the evolution of existing 9LV Platform capabilities.
  • Consider the needs of engineering specialties including Safety, Security and ILS in all engineering work

Flexible work arrangements such as 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Well-developed communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Deep understanding of networks, distributed systems, fault tolerance, and resilient data storage
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions
  • Experience of at least one software development, engineering or product lifecycle model in a formal engineering environment, preferably defence
  • Experience with configuration management
  • Experience in producing and reviewing technical documentation
  • Experience with Linux systems administration


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
