    Defence and security company Saab has signed a contract on deliveries of the RBS 70 VSHORAD (very short range air defence system) to the Brazilian Army. The order has a total value of approx. MSEK 105 and deliveries will take place during 2017 and 2018.

  • Defense and security company Saab today at LAAD International Defence & Security Exhibition presented the latest developments in its Gripen NG Programme for Brazil. The new developments included an announcement on the first aircraft for the Brazilian Air Force and that the development of the two-seat version has already begun in Brazil. Saab also confirmed extended cooperation with a number of Brazilian companies.

    Defence and security company Saab has acquired another 10 per cent of shares, reaching 25 per cent of stakes, in Akaer, one of the largest companies within development of aeronautical projects in Brazil. In conjunction with the expansion of the Saab-Akaer partnership, Akaer acquires assets of the shares of the Space and Defense Division (E&D) of the Brazilian optronic company Opto Eletrônica S.A.

The GDDN will be the hub for the Gripen NG technology development in Brazil for Saab and Embraer together with the Brazilian partner industries and institutions, AEL Sistemas, Atech, Akaer and the Brazilian Air Force, through its research department DCTA.

The system increases the efficiency of aircraft operations on the ground and contributes to reduced flight delays. RIOgaleão, the second busiest international airport in Brazil, will be the first airport in Latin America to use this technology.
