  • Saab Inaugurates Gripen Development Simulator in Brazil

    On 25 November the so called S-Rig (systems rig), which is the first Gripen development simulator installed outside of Sweden, was inaugurated at the Gripen Design and Development Network (GDDN) at the Embraer plant, located in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo State.

    Saab and its Brazilian partners have taken another important step in the Brazilian technology transfer programme. On 25 November the so called S-Rig (systems rig), which is the first Gripen development simulator installed outside of Sweden, was inaugurated at the Gripen Design and Development Network (GDDN) at the Embraer plant, located in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo State. The new simulator is part of the technology transfer programme for the new Brazilian fighter under a partnership between Saab, Embraer, Atech, AEL Sistemas and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

    Saab today completed a successful first flight with the first Brazilian Gripen E fighter aircraft, 39-6001. At 2.41 pm CET on August 26, the Gripen E aircraft took off on its maiden flight flown by Saab test pilot Richard Ljungberg. The aircraft operated from Saab´s airfield in Linköping, Sweden.

  • Saab to Deliver Carl-Gustaf M4 to the U.S. Army

    Saab and the U.S. Army have signed a multi-year framework agreement for delivery of the Carl-Gustaf® M4 weapon system (designated M3E1 in the US). The first delivery order amounts to USD 19 million (Approximately 170 MSEK) with deliveries expected in 2019.

  • First Missile Firing by Gripen E

  • The consortium formed by the Dutch company Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding and Sweden's Saab are one of the three finalists that have been down selected to supply four Tamandaré Class corvettes (CCT) to Brazil. This was announced on 15 October by the Brazilian Navy. Damen is a leading shipbuilding company with more than 6,000 vessels produced and more than 20 navies serviced worldwide, and Saab has more than 80 years of experience in the defense and security industry.

The seminar was held in the second half of September, in Stockholm, Sweden. The Gripen program was mentioned at various times as the catalyst for cooperation between the countries.

  • Saab has received a new order from the United States (U.S.) Army for the shoulder-launched AT4CS RS (Confined Space Reduced Sensitivity) anti-armor weapon system. The order value is approximately $50 million (426 MSEK). The order was booked during Q2 2018.
