First Batch Of Diploma Engineers Graduates From Saab DEEP Program
The first batch of Saab’s Diploma Employment Enhancement Program (DEEP) graduated on May 15th, 2013 from VKR and VNB Polytechnic colleges in Gudivada, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.
“We are very happy and would like to congratulate the bright young engineers for having completed the diploma training program. DEEP is designed to bridge the gap between the educational system and the industry requirements. Our prime focus was to fill this gap by training the labour force with appropriate knowledge, and industry skills. For the first batch of 25 engineers who have graduated, I foresee that these young students will be well equipped and perform well when taking on their future challenges entering an industrial cooperation, hopefully with a successful lifelong career ahead of them”, says Mr. Lars-Olof Lindgren, Head, Market Area, Saab India.
The diploma classes are imparted in a four month theory and two month practical module (internship at companies). The training is instructor led. Hands-on training in fully equipped labs is one of the significant features of the course structure. During the course interaction sessions are also held between both the teachers and students in India and their relevant counterparts in Sweden.
DEEP covers the larger domains of mechanical, aviation and automotive engineering and also guarantees a 100% placement for students in Indian and Swedish companies that have partnered with each other for the program.
Saab had shortlisted Gudivada and Kakinada for the program due to the number of Polytechnic / Diploma and Engineering Courses available and taking into account the number of students graduating every year in these two regions.
For the successful implementation of DEEP, Saab had signed a cooperation agreement with AIKIA.
