Saab selects Australian SME to support Royal Australian Navy’s AUV-62 AT
Saab Australia has signed a support contract with Australian SME BlueZone Group for the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) latest generation anti-submarine warfare (ASW) target training system.
Saab will deliver the AUV62-AT as the RAN’s newest and most innovative ASW training capability from 2022. During a five-year contract, BlueZone Group will support the management of the system’s operations, maintenance and repair for Saab and the Australian Navy.
“Our partnership with BlueZone Group will see one hundred percent of the AUV62-AT sustainment operations carried out by Australian industry”, said Andy Keough, Saab Australia Managing Director.
“Australian SMEs are critical to both the advancement of our sovereign defence industry and the delivery of capability to defence. Our partnership with BlueZone Group is another example of the opportunities for SMEs, as Saab continues to expand our partnerships with Australian industry.
Saab has a long history of underwater expertise, with world-leading military and commercial underwater solutions deployed across the globe. The AUV62-AT training solution is currently in service with a number of leading navies around the world.
Saab and BlueZone Group have partnered in support of the Australian Defence Forces for more than two decades, including Saab’s Double Eagle mine reconnaissance and disposal vehicle currently in-service on the Huon class minehunters.
