On 5 December 2019, Saab delivered a complete Deployable Maintenance Facility (DAM) solution to the Hungarian Air Force (HunAF) for the support and better maintenance of its Gripen fleet, reports Airforce Technology
. The delivery was made in accord with the contract that was signed between Saab and the Hungarian Ministry of Defence in December last year.
The DAM is Saab’s home-away-from-home solution to provide transportable aircraft hangars and maintenance containers that are equivalent to stationary maintenance system.
The DAM hangar can be rapidly deployed, it requires minimum maintenance, and ensures maximum aircraft operational availability within the country as well as abroad, all at a fraction of the cost. Due to its versatile design, the hangar can fit a great range of available fixed wing fighter aircraft and helicopters that can be transported by land, air or sea.
“This is an important milestone for Saab as it marks the first order of a complete DAM solution. It is a proof of our continued capability to deliver support solutions allowing air forces to combine operational availability with cost efficiency,” says Ellen Molin, Senior Vice President and head of Saab’s business area Support and Services.
Hungary currently operates 14 Gripen C/D fighter aircrafts on a lease-purchase contract with Sweden.
