Job Description:

At Saab in West Lafayette, Indiana, you have the opportunity to join a team that will manufacture the rear section of the T-7A Red Hawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. When at full capacity by 2027, Saab will employ over 250 employees in the West Lafayette facility. The flagship facility will utilize advanced manufacturing techniques and leverage research and development to support Saab’s broad product portfolio.

As Saab continues to grow in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking a Material Handler to join our team.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

  • Apply stockroom concepts with guidance from senior material handlers.

  • Apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine stockroom issues and assigned tasks.

  • Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values: Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support.

  • Utilize stockroom principals, techniques, and company standards.

  • Receive all consignments including program and non‐program deliveries.

  • Convey material from receiving dock to incoming inspection and to appropriate stock location.

  • Convey non-production material to courier for internal deliveries.

  • Pick, crate and configure materials for shipments.

  • Perform all necessary transactions within ERP to receive and stock production material.

  • Kit production and/or prototype material for release to production.

  • Perform cycle count activities.

  • Set‐up and perform movement of material between the company’s storage locations.

  • Effectively use appropriate tools and computer skill.

  • Other tasks and projects as assigned.

Compensation: Starting pay rate up to $20.00 per hour

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 2+ years of relevant experience is preferred

  • Experience may include comprehensive knowledge of tools, software and other technologies.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as high-performance team

  • Proven ability to multi-task, with strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrates reliability and dependability in support of team goals

  • Must be self-mobile and able to stand for extended periods

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, bending, stooping, walking, climbing, reaching during a normal workday, to perform repetitive motions and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to safely operate a forklift, after completing Saab certification

  • Ability to work extended hours when required

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
