Over the period 29-31 Oct, Saab representatives from Australia participated in the Non-Conventional Threat Counter IED Asia 2013 Symposium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Magnus Aronsson (AU CCT Regional Support Manager) and Neil Patrick (AU CCT Capability Manager) demonstrated the Saab Counter IED Clearance Trainer instrumentation capability/diversity to senior Asia Pacific country dignitaries such as Cambodia, India, Pakistan and Thailand. Equally, representatives from Europe attended from organisations such as the NATO Counter IED Centre Of Excellence in Madrid.
The key theme of the symposium was the significant threat and utility of IED’s in the region from numerous insurgent organisations, and what can be done to counter the threat, in terms of national intelligence collaboration, equipment, and training.
Additionally, the event allowed the team to brief the CBRN training capability of the Saab live instrumentation suite of assets given the noteworthy attention that countries are now affording this substantial global threat.
The event was highly successful in terms of the symposium outcomes, and from a company business development perspective with numerous contacts and leads to be re-engaged for potential business initiatives.
The team will be attending Defence & Security 2013 in Bangkok as well to further market Saabs capabilities in the Asia Pacific region.
