Saab and Indonesian Defence University Unhan in Academic Collaboration

Defence and security company Saab and the Indonesian defence university Unhan have recently signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) regarding academic collaboration in Innovation, R&D and knowledge exchange.

During a recent visit to Sweden, Vice Admiral Dr. D.A Desi Albert Mamahit, Head of Unhan together with an Indonesian defence delegation visited Saabs facilities in Järfälla and Göteborg as well as the Swedish Armed Forces Sea Traffic Control Center and the Swedish Defence University in Stockholm, among other places. The visit was concluded with a signing ceremony of a LOI between Unhan and Saab.

The LOI aims Unhan and Saab to collaborate regarding building networks between Indonesia and Sweden with a so called Triple Helix focus (Academia, Industry & Government), enhance university-to-university exchange, and to share Saab high-tech knowledge with lecturers, students and Unhan. Additionally, Saabs ambition is to support Unhan’s plan to develop a foundation for a center of excellence.

In Sweden, there is a strong alliance between academia, industry and government, the so called Triple helix model. This is a successful model that Sweden and Saab have extensive experience with and are happy to share with Indonesia. Efficient development of new capabilities driven by customer demands would not be possible without the cooperation with academia and government, says Peter Carlqvist, Head of Saab Indonesia.
