Air

In India, Saab’s air domain portfolio spans combat and surveillance aircraft, electronic warfare, weapons, sensors, commercial aeronautics solutions, training, and full lifecycle support.

Saab’s Gripen offer goes beyond assembly lines, aiming to establish the world’s most advanced fighter aircraft manufacturing capability under the Make in India initiative. The proposal focuses on building an independent and sustainable industrial base that can design, develop, produce, upgrade and maintain the Gripen system, thereby going beyond just building subcomponents with Indian partners. Besides Gripen, this base will also offer long-term technological support for indigenous fighter programmes such as the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) MK2 and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).

GlobalEye is Saab’s state‑of‑the‑art multi‑domain Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) solution, designed to deliver unparalleled situational awareness across air, maritime and land environments from a single, high‑endurance platform. With its advanced suite of modern active and passive sensors, GlobalEye provides long‑range detection and identification capabilities essential for maintaining national security.

Engineered to support government and military forces with real‑time, mission‑critical information, GlobalEye strengthens decision‑making in peace, crisis or conflict. Its robust system architecture is built to operate in severe clutter and jamming environments, ensuring reliable performance even in the most demanding operational conditions. The solution’s adaptive Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar concentrates energy on areas or targets of interest, significantly enhancing detection accuracy across all domains.

Since 2005, Saab’s Integrated Defence Aids Suite (IDAS) has safeguarded over 250 Indian Army and Air Force helicopters, including the ALH Dhruv. Saab is also a Tier 1 supplier to Boeing and Airbus, providing design-to-build airframe assembly work packages such as overwing exit doors, cargo doors, ailerons, wing spars, and fuselage structures, along with system integration and maintenance solutions across multiple aircraft platforms.
