Every 45 seconds a Saab 340 or Saab 2000 takes off or lands, around the clock and throughout the year in 30 countries. At present there are some 300 Saab 340 and 2000 aircraft operational across the world.
During 2015 Saab announced the placement of 25 Saab regional aircraft to ten existing operators as well as nine new airlines. In total 22 Saab 340 and three Saab 2000 found new customers during 2015, a 47 % increase over 2014.
The placements of aircraft were quite evenly spread around the globe with the majority of transactions taking place in Europe, North America and Asia.
Canada, North and Central America
In Alaska PenAir, a longtime Saab 340 operator, acquired two Saab 2000 on lease from Jetstream Aviation Capital in Miami, being the first commercial airline operation of the type ever in the United States. PenAir also added a 340B. GLO in New Orleans took two Saab 340B from Alandia Air, operated by Corporate Flight Management. In Canada Pacific Coastal added three Saab 340Bs to its fleet of Saab 340As and Transwest took a fourth 340B. In Cayman, the national airline took a Saab 340B+ to add to B737 fleet. Also in the Caribbean, Air Century Dominican Republic was a new operator to the Saab 340B, while TAG in Guatemala took another Saab 340A.
In Asia and Pacific there were activity at Regional Express added a Saab 340B to its fifty plus fleet, and Skydive Guam taking two Saab 340 aircraft for regional operations; Kiwi Regional in New Zealand brought the Saab 340 back to this country. In Bangladesh Easy Fly Express took a Saab 340 cargo.
In Europe Slovenian Lipican Aer was new to the Saab 340 Cargo and in Scotland Loganair/FlyBe added a Saab 2000 to a fleet of three. Tus Airways in Cyprus started operations with two Saab 340B and Airest of Estonia added a Saab 340A passenger aircraft to its fleet of five Saab 340 Cargo. Aerojet, Nextjet and FleetAir all added an additional Saab 340 aircraft.
Saab does not sell nor lease Saab aircraft. Rather, it facilitates placements by sellers and lessors through its vast marketing organization, in addition to providing comprehensive support to Saab aircraft operators throughout the world.
