Due to its penetrating power, gamma radiation has a long range and is easy to detect, making it ideal for a sensor. Radiation may result from dispersed radioactive material (in solid, liquid, gaseous or vapour form) or it may result from discrete sources.
\nBoth external exposure to a sufficient quantity of radiation and internal exposure to inhalation or ingestion can increase short- and long-term health risks. The gamma sensor’s communication interface is carefully integrated into the sensor network and Saab’s Automatic Warning and Reporting (AWR) system.
