Air Traffic Controlled at Multiple Airports By One Air Traffic Controller

Over a period of three weeks, European air traffic controllers validated Saab’s next-generation Multiple Remote Tower. Two different exercises were demonstrated at Coopan’s Multiple Remote Tower Trials Open Day at Saab in Växjö. This is part of the SESAR 2020 IR project. In the one exercise, an air traffic controller managed two airports simultaneously with departing and landing air traffic. The second exercise demonstrated three airports being managed at the same time by one air traffic controller.

“These validations ensure that Saab receives operational feedback for the next generation of the Remote Tower platform, which is imperative for remaining world-leading in the market,” says Per Ahl, CEO at Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions.
