The Saab OneViewTM electronic security platform, installed, managed and maintained by Chubb Electronic Security, integrates all of the hospital’s discrete safety and security systems.
Saab and Chubb received the 2018 Australian security industry award for the successful system now managing the safety of the hospital’s 2,500 employees; and 38,000 inpatients and 190,000 outpatients estimated to visit annually.
The Queensland Children’s Hospital is one of the largest paediatric facilities in Australia which cares for the state’s sickest and critically injured children.
“OneView integrates all the hospital’s security and safety subsystems, for operators to monitor and control them from one simple interface; easily, reliably and rapidly” said Saab Australia project manager, Trent Schroeter.
The Saab development team added business rules and customised the user interface of the OneView system to meet the hospital’s unique needs and complex operational rules needed in a public, highly-trafficked facility.
The system manages 682 cameras, the hospital’s intercom system of 60 master stations and 119 slaves; monitors 1372 doors, 21 access panels, 25 lifts and the building’s fire management system.
“The OneView system is accurate, easy to use and navigate, and extremely fast because it monitors in real time—response is immediate,” said Chubb Electronic Security General Manager Queensland, Michael Bain.
“Our technology which can be ultimately expanded, integrated with any equipment or maintained by certified partners was a key requirement of the hospital’s new security and safety management system”, said Trent Schroeter.
“We know some facility managers prefer different or multiple subsystems over others—they all have their own preferences and specific needs — therefore OneView is the ideal system to integrate all of these into a single control room solution”, said Michael Bain.
Saab and Chubb supplied training to the security team responsible for the hospitals ongoing security monitoring and will provide ongoing maintenance support.
This is Australia’s first major hospital to install OneView, the leading physical security management system for critical infrastructure sites; already installed in numerous high-security prisons, detention centres and Australian Government high security sites.
