  • Saab inaugurates simulator at GDDN

    Saab and its Brazilian partners have taken another important step in the Brazilian technology transfer programme. On 25 November the so called S-Rig (Systems Rig), which is the first Gripen development simulator installed outside of Sweden, was inaugurated at the Gripen Design and Development Network (GDDN), at the Embraer plant, in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo State. The new simulator is part of the technology transfer programme for the new Brazilian fighter under a partnership between Saab, Embraer, Atech, AEL Sistemas and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

  • Saab Selected as Combat System Provider for Finnish Squadron 2020 Programme

    In accordance with Finland’s Ministry of Defence’s proposition, the Government of Finland has today selected Saab as the combat system provider and integrator for the Finnish Navy’s four new Pohjanmaa-class corvettes within the Squadron 2020 programme.

    Saab today completed a successful first flight with the first Brazilian Gripen E fighter aircraft, 39-6001. At 2.41 pm CET on August 26, the Gripen E aircraft took off on its maiden flight flown by Saab test pilot Richard Ljungberg. The aircraft operated from Saab´s airfield in Linköping, Sweden.

The order, placed by General Dynamics, is further testament to Saab’s continued growth in the U.S. market.

    Supported by Sweden, Saab has today submitted its proposal for the Finnish HX fighter procurement to the Finnish defence procurement agency, the Logistics Command of the Finnish Defence Forces. The proposal comprises 64 Gripen aircraft, both single-seat Gripen E and dual-seat Gripen F, and is the formal response to the customer’s Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued in April 2018.

  • U.S. Air Force Selects Saab and Boeing T-X Trainer

    The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing USD 9.2 billion for the development of a new advanced pilot training system that will help train fighter and bomber pilots for generations to come. Boeing is the designated prime contractor for the Advanced Pilot Training Program. Saab is a risk-sharing partner with Boeing in the development of the T-X aircraft. At this stage, Saab has not received an order from Boeing.
