Saab, together with Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, announced during the second half of 2016 the opportunity to apply for a Master study scholarship for one Indonesian student. A student from Indonesia has now received a complete Master’s scholarship to pursue the Communication Engineering programme at Chalmers in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The Swedish Embassy in Jakarta hosted the scholarship award ceremony on April 22 during a special pre-departure event for Indonesian students. The scholarship was accepted by Tito Ilyasa from the University of Indonesia. Besides presenting excellent study records and a letter of recommendation, he wrote an inspiring short essay regarding future challenges to pursue within the field of Communication Engineering.
The scholarship was open to Indonesian citizens currently enrolled at an Indonesian university or recent graduates holding a technical bachelor's degree from an Indonesian university. Saab will provide the student with living allowances for the entire duration of the course and Chalmers will cover the tuition expenses. The winner will enroll at Chalmers in the second semester of 2017.
The scholarship is part of the Saab Indonesian scholarship programme which supports young Indonesian professionals. The programme is a unique cooperation between Saab and Swedish academia. To date, more than 25 young professionals have taken the opportunity to study in Sweden. Currently, 18 engineers and officers are engaged in a five-month course hosted by the Swedish Defence University and Saab.
