Three young parliamentarians from India, Pradeep Majhi, MP, Indian National Congress, Bhavana Gawali Patil, MP, Shiv Sena and Satabdi Roy, MP, AITC witnessed a demonstration of Gripen in Linkoping on June 13, 2012 during a recent trip to Sweden. The trip was organized by Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to enhance India’s knowledge about Swedish Defence industry, to increase awareness about Sweden and thereby promoting Sweden’s image in India.
“We want to discuss our aspirations and plans for the Indian market with these young parliamentarians”, said Eva Söderström, Vice President, Head of Industrial Cooperation, Group Marketing & Sales, Saab. This is the fourth time the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with Indian parliamentarians have organized a trip to Sweden in order to give the participants an opportunity to increase their knowledge about Swedish industry. The parliamentarians were also presented with the opportunities that Indians have with Swedish companies.
The visitors program also included presentations about Saab and business area Aeronautics, especially Gripen and the development of the multi role fighter system.
“The participants were deeply impressed by Saab and our ability to develop such highly advanced products like Gripen”, added Eva Söderström.
The parliamentarians also visited Usitall in Linkoping, iron company LKAB in Kiruna and the Foreign Office where they met the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt.
