Our Cooperative Surveillance System (CSS) can function as a sole means of cooperative surveillance or as a key subcomponent in applications ranging from Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems (A-SMGCS) to nationwide air traffic management systems.
CSS uses existing, field-proven and state-of-the-art hardware, software, and Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) equipment. It achieves accurate and reliable detection of transponder-equipped targets on the airport surface and in the air. Systems can easily be expanded to provide seamless coverage from the ground to en-route airspace through the addition of remote units (RU's), without the need for additional processing hardware.
The capabilities offered by CSS include Multilateration (MLAT, both surface and wide area) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) tracking for all stages of flight, with the option to deploy them individually or in combination. Through the use of server virtualization, CSS makes it possible to host multiple surveillance functions and service volumes in various configurations (e.g. Multilateration and/or ADS-B, surface and/or wide area applications) using a single set of central processing equipment.
CSS is compliant to the relevant international standards and works in all weather conditions without interference to nearby surveillance, communication, or navigational systems. It offers extensive functionality and flexibility with a reduced physical footprint and maintenance costs relative to conventional radar.
