  • Defence and security company Saab and the Swedish Air Navigation Service Provider (LFV) newly established company Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions AB, has signed a letter of intent with Scandinavian Mountains Airport AB to provide remote air traffic services. The parties’ intent is to sign a contract during the first quarter of 2017.

    Effective September 1, 2016, Johan Klintberg is appointed CEO of the company Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions. At the same date, the company will commence its operations, to market, sell, develop and operate products and services for remote air traffic control.

  • Defence and security company Saab and LFV (the Swedish Air Navigation Service Provider) have today signed an agreement to establish a new company: Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions AB. The new company will market, sell, develop and operate products and services for remote air traffic control. Saab will be the majority owner with 59 per cent of shares, with LFV holding 41 per cent.

  • Defence and security company Saab has signed a contract with the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) to deliver a Remote Tower Centre to Dublin Airport and the corresponding remote tower installations at Cork and Shannon Airport. Electronic Flight Strips (EFS) are also included in the order and will be installed at all three airports.

     
  • The first plane landed today using Remote Tower Services, a system developed by LFV and Saab. As of today, the air traffic service at Örnsköldsvik Airport is operated using Remote Tower Service (RTS). Throughout the day, the first planes controlled from the LFV Remote Tower Centre in Sundsvall have been taking off and landing at Örnsköldsvik Airport. LFV and Saab have worked together to develop the operational and technological solutions for remotely operated air traffic management. It is for the first time air traffic control is operated remotely. After ten years of developing, LFV and Saab are first in the world to launch Remote Tower Services.

    This milestone indicates that all technologies and operational procedures meet key industry and regulatory criteria for providing air traffic control services. This includes the use of Saab sensors and equipment for air traffic services and LFV’s existing procedures, enabling a streamlined approval process.
