Saab Thailand – The Year That Was

The Thai Armed Forces have had an eventful year to say the least, with many positives in it. Saab has been a steady partner and supplier to Thailand in many of its defence programmes

Thailand has been among the top 10 markets for Saab over an extended period of time. In 2013 , Saab went a step ahead in its commitment by further strengthening its  partnership with AVIA Satcom, that began in 2011. The cooperation between the two companies has not only increased Saab's engagement in Thailand, but also created highly advanced work opportunities for Thai professionals.

Leading the array of positive and successful outcomes for the Thai Armed Forces in 2013 was the commissioning of the Gripen Integrated Air Defense System as a fully operational part of the Royal Thai Air Force. With the 12 Gripen fighters on order from Sweden delivered and operational as well as two SAAB 340 AEW aircraft, radar stations, command and control systems and much more, Wing 7, Surat Thani stands ready to defend and protect the Thai nation with a state of the art integrated air defense system.Saab has also signed a contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Korea, for development and integration of combat management and radar systems on a new frigate for the Royal Thai Navy.

Saab has also had a very successful participation at Defence and Security 2013, Asia's most important military event. This year it exhibited together with AVIA Satcom, showcasing how the two companies jointly develop network centric solutions and other tailor made solutions for the Royal Thai Armed Forces and for the global market.
