The South African Premier Business Awards are about:
- recognising and honoring South African enterprises and entrepreneurs which promote the spirit of success, innovation and good business ethics in the economy
- to showcase the best South African business and products in various sectors of the South African economy
The Department of Trade and Industry (dti), in partnership with Proudly South African and Brand South Africa hosted the inaugural South African Premier Business Awards. The Exporter award aims to recognise all export industry sectors (from services to manufacturing) and encourage other South African companies to participate in international business development and markets and the prize aims to recognize South African enterprises which invest in both human and technical resources in various projects or activities, produce quality products and services, and remain domestically and internationally competitive.
Arno Böhmer, executive manager, product management, Magnus Lewis-Olsson, CEO Saab Grintek Defence, Hermann Volker, executive technical manager and Leif Karlsson acting COO of SGD were at the gala to receive the award.
“We are all really chuffed with this token of recognition. Export is a clear driver for any nation and Saab’s contribution to South Africa’s export could not be better recognised than being bestowed with the government’s Best Exporter award. Our South African products are being sold across the world and hopefully this recognition will also help us on the local and regional market. It is great to see our products in Asia, Europe, Northern Africa and the US but we need a better local foothold in South Africa and Sub Sahara and hopefully this prize can serve as a door opener inside our own home market.” says Magnus Lewis-Olsson, CEO Saab Grintek Defence.
