SNA continues strong partnership with Atlantic Council on "Commander Series"

Since 2008, Saab North America has collaborated with the Atlantic Council to produce the Commander Series, a speaking forum for defense leaders from the United States and Europe. The series serves as a platform to discuss trans-Atlantic relations around international security, intelligence and defense.

The Atlantic Council is a U.S.-based research and policy institute; it focuses primarily on relations between North America and Europe. Working with the Council, MA North America Head Michael Andersson attends each Commander Series event and introduces the speaker. On January 15, 2015, he introduced Admiral Cecil Haney, the Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, for an event titled "Strategic Deterrence in the 21st Century." Admiral Haney spoke on the current state of America's strategic and security environment, highlighting the importance of a sound investment strategy and the need for a nuclear deterrent force.

Saab's ten-year partnership with the Atlantic Council predates the Commander Series, spanning numerous other programs. These collaborations provide Saab with visibility, networking opportunities, and up-close analyses of trends within the armed services. Additionally, the Atlantic Council's focus on trans-Atlantic relations highlights Saab North America's Swedish-American link.

In 2015, Michael Andersson will join the Atlantic Council Board of Directors, where Henrik Liljegren, former Swedish Ambassador to the U.S. and longtime senior political advisor at Saab, has previously been recognized as a Lifetime Director. Saab will also continue its long-running participation in the Atlantic Council's Distinguished Leadership Awards, which honors people and institutions who work to improve trans-Atlantic relations. Past winners include former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen; and former European Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

Saab is proud to work with an organization as highly regarded and forward-thinking as the Atlantic Council. The company anticipates many more years of collaboration, invaluable insights, and shared benefits.
