Saab at F-AIR Colombia 2017

Defence and security company Saab will display its broad range of products and solutions for military defence and civil security, at Feria Aeronaútica Internacional F-AIR Colombia 2017, July 13 to 16, 2017, booth 346. Visitors will, among other things, be able to sit in the Gripen cockpit, take a flight in the Gripen simulator, learn about air defence systems, such as the RBS 70 NG, and surveillance capabilities, such as the Saab 2000 Erieye AEW&C.

Saab considers F-AIR Colombia 2017 an important opportunity to bring ideas together with regional allies and potential new partners. By joining efforts and partnering with local players, Saab guarantees real collaboration that creates opportunities, ensures efficient logistics chains and facilitates highly beneficial Technology Transfer programs. Saab's trusted and reliable products are backed by a unique mix of high technology, proven effectiveness and lower costs, and F-AIR Colombia 2017 is a great arena to present Saab's solutions for the land, air and sea domains.

"We aim to provide customers in Colombia and other Latin American countries with the best products to keep people and society safe. As new head of this market I'm thrilled to attend the fair. This is a great opportunity to display our high-technology portfolio for all domains and continue consolidating our regional projects and relations", said Thomas Lindén, Vice President, Head of Saab Colombia.

At F-AIR Colombia 2017, Saab will showcase its broad range of products and solutions, including:

Gripen -the smart fighter: Gripen is a unique fighter concept, bringing a perfect balance between excellent operational performance, high-tech solutions, cost-efficiency and industrial partnership into one smart fighter system. It is equipped with the most modern range of weapons and integrated systems – capable of effectively performing an extensive range of air-to-air, air-to-surface and reconnaissance missions that a modern air force often is to master. Through innovative thinking and the fact that Saab has taken into consideration all maintenance and logistics aspects at an early stage of the programme, the operational availability of the Gripen is maximized by minimizing the workload and time consumption for MRO. This, in its turn, will secure a low life-cycle cost.

Saab 2000 Erieye AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning system): For long-range surveillance and control. Erieye monitors airspace, borders and sea lanes to ensure national security and assist in law-enforcement missions such as anti-smuggling, anti-piracy and protection of national resources. Ideal for integration on medium-size commuter-type aircraft, like the Saab 2000 turbo prop. A solution that benefits from high availability, low operational costs and a small organisational footprint.

RBS 70 NG:Short-range air defence missile system to provide protection from 250 meters out to 9 km for ground forces against airborne threats. The system is portable, easy to set up and operate, and provides 24-hour coverage in all climates.

ESTL countermeasures pod: Countermeasures pod with missile approach warning to counter RF and IR threats. ESTL is a highly effective countermeasures self-protection pod for use on any fixed wing aircraft with an interface for AIM-9 or AIM-120.

Vricon 3D Mapping: Vricon offers a precise representation of earth through high-accuracy 3D data for decision makers. The data is provided globally, based on your areas of interest. The process uses commercial satellite imagery and does not require ground control points.

Counter-IED and Search Capability: The Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Training System is a fully instrumented Tactical Engagement System (TES) developed to meet the changing training needs of current and future IED threats and the wider aspects of Counter Insurgency (COIN). The Counter-IED Collective Trainer (CCT) is a fully instrumented tactical engagement simulation system developed to meet the training needs of individuals and teams engaged in dismounted route and area searches.

F-AIR Colombia 2017 will take place at International Airport José María Córdova in the municipality of Rionegro, Antioquia, from July 13-16, 2017.
