Approximately 1,500 engineering students from several countries in Latin America participated at SAE Aerodesign Brazil competition, in Sao Jose dos Campos, with Gripen as one of the main sponsors.
Over the three day event, each team had to design, build and fly their model aircraft around a pre-determined flight path taking into account specific design requirements. Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico and Peru competed in three different weight categories, producing more than 120 successful flights.
During the first day of the event, Saab had the opportunity to interact with the students whilst working on their designs and again at the Gala dinner awards ceremony on the final day.
“It is great to see how the teams work together and the excitement generated when they launch their designs for the first time. For Saab, this event represents a great opportunity to meet Latin Americas’ Aerospace Engineers of the future.” said Andrew Wilkinson, Campaign Director Gripen.
