  • Arboga, Sweden. Saab’s deliveries to Brazil go way beyond the Gripen fighters. Even before the multirole fighter takes to the skies, the technical and cultural exchange between the two countries is already intense. Since January 2017, engineers from AEL Sistemas have been in Arboga to learn in detail the concept developed by Saab for the automatic test equipment(ATE) and for maintaining the avionics units on the aircraft.

  • Defence and security company Saab today at LAAD International Defence & Security Exhibition presented the latest developments in its Gripen NG Programme for Brazil. The new developments included an announcement on the first aircraft for the Brazilian Air Force and that the development of the two-seat version has already begun in Brazil. Saab also confirmed extended cooperation with a number of Brazilian companies.

  • Saab Expands Partnership with Akaer in Brazil

    Defence and security company Saab has acquired another 10 per cent of shares, reaching 25 per cent of stakes, in Akaer, one of the largest companies within development of aeronautical projects in Brazil. In conjunction with the expansion of the Saab-Akaer partnership, Akaer acquires assets of the shares of the Space and Defense Division (E&D) of the Brazilian optronic company Opto Eletrônica S.A.

  • When the Brazilian Federal Government signed the agreement with Saab covering the development and production of 36 Gripen NG, the contract also included a technology transfer programme. The aim with the programme is to provide the Brazilian aerospace industry with the technology and knowledge needed to maintain and develop Gripen for Brazil. A key milestone in the programme is the opening of the Gripen Design and Development Network (GDDN) in Brazil.

AEL will provide the wide area display  (WAD) and the head-up display (HUD), which will be integrated in the Gripen NG  for Brazil as part of the F-X2 contract. The WAD and HUD development programme  commenced in January 2015. Saab and AEL have also signed a contract for transfer  of technology.
